Winged Horse Tea Tray

I've been doing illustration for a good long time now, and recently I've gotten really into painting small wooden objects. So when I saw a three pack of little wooden tea trays, I was struck with an idea.

The blue and gold around the exterior are just craft paint. For the image inside the tray, I coated the wood with a layer of gesso, then painted over it with acrylic. It still needs a couple of coats of varnish.
